Build your own
Or we can just teach you how to do it.
We build websites for a living. These bundles are the same process, written down — every decision, in order, with the reasoning attached. You pay once, you build it yourself, and it costs you less than anyone would charge to do it for you. Including us.
Why we sell this
A lot of businesses do not need to hire anybody.
We tell people that on the phone regularly, and it has always been an unsatisfying place to leave it — because knowing you could do it yourself is not the same as knowing how.
So this is the how. Not a course you have to keep up with, and not a subscription. A written guide that takes you from an empty screen to a site that is live, earning its keep, and looked after — plus a plan written for your business rather than for everyone.
What you build at the end is yours. The domain is in your name, the account is yours, and nobody can hold any of it hostage. That is the whole point.
What makes this different
- It is written by people who do this commercially, and it says which decision we would actually make, not just what the options are.
- It is specific. Named tools, real prices, and the trade-offs stated plainly.
- It is Canadian where that matters — tax, privacy, and anti-spam rules that apply to you.
- It tells you when not to bother. There are things in here we recommend against building at all.
The bundles
Three of them. Each one contains the one before it.
Pay once. There is no subscription, nothing renews, and nothing expires. If you start at the bottom and want more later, you pay the difference and never the full price again.
01
Foundation
Everything you need to put a real site online.
$500
One time. Nothing renews.
Who it is for
You have no website, or one you would rather not send people to. You sell your time or your expertise, and you need somewhere that explains what you do and lets people get hold of you.
- The full written guide — every step from an empty screen to a site that is live.
- A tailored recommendation: which tool to build on, how to structure your pages, and what to write on each, for your business specifically.
- A costed comparison of the main website builders, so the choice is made on facts rather than whoever advertises hardest.
- Copy prompts for the five pages nearly every small business site needs.
- A launch checklist, and the short list of things worth checking every month afterwards.
02
Storefront
Everything in Foundation, plus taking money online.
$900
One time. Nothing renews.
Who it is for
You sell something — products, services, classes, appointments, or a deposit that books the work. You want the money to arrive without an invoice and a wait.
- Everything in Foundation, in full.
- The payments guide — choosing how you take money, setting it up, and going live without losing any.
- A tailored recommendation that covers your checkout as well as your site: what to sell, how to price it, and which payment path fits.
- Canadian sales tax explained properly — GST, HST and PST, when you have to register, and how to make the software handle it.
- The policies you are obliged to publish before you can take a payment, and what they need to say.
03
Advanced
Everything above, plus building it yourself, properly.
$1,500
One time. Nothing renews.
Who it is for
You have outgrown what a website builder will do, or you want to own the thing outright. You are willing to learn some code — you do not need to know any yet.
- Everything in Foundation and Storefront, in full.
- The advanced guide — the professional stack, from an empty folder to a deployed application with a database and logins.
- A tailored recommendation covering architecture: what to build custom, what to buy, and what not to build at all.
- The deployment and DNS chapter, including how to point a domain at a new site without taking your email down with it.
- An honest account of where AI genuinely helps you build, and the specific ways it will confidently mislead you.
- A pre-launch review: send us the link before you go live and we send back a written list of what to fix, in the order worth fixing it.
Credited in full against a build if you decide you would rather we did it, within 90 days. So the worst case is that you decide halfway through you would rather we did it, and the money follows you.
Payment is taken and invoiced through FileFlow Solutions Inc., which is where the GST number and your receipt come from, and the name you will see on your card statement.
What is in it
The whole table of contents, before you pay.
You should be able to tell whether this is worth it to you without taking anybody’s word for it. Every chapter of every tier is listed on this site.
Foundation
16 chapters in this tier.
- Part one — Building the site — 16 chapters
Storefront
11 chapters in this tier, plus everything below it.
- Part one — Building the site — 16 chapters
- Part two — Taking payments — 11 chapters
Advanced
16 chapters in this tier, plus everything below it.
- Part one — Building the site — 16 chapters
- Part two — Taking payments — 11 chapters
- Part three — Building it yourself — 16 chapters
Not just a document
Every bundle includes work we do for you, and it grows with the tier.
The guide tells you how everything works. The recommendation tells you what to do, given what you actually sell and who you sell it to. You fill in a short form after you buy — about five minutes — and it comes back within five business days.
Foundation
5 points
Your recommendation covers
- Which tool to build on, named, with the reasoning and what it will cost you a year.
- Your site structure: the pages to build, in the order to build them.
- What each page needs to say, and the one action it should be pushing towards.
- What to skip — the features you are considering that would not earn their keep.
- Where you are most likely to get stuck, given the path you have chosen.
Storefront
9 points
Your recommendation covers
Everything Foundation’s covers, plus:
- What to sell and how to package it — a flat price, tiers, or a deposit against a larger job.
- Which payment path fits you: links, a hosted checkout, or your builder's own store, with what each actually costs.
- Whether to register for GST now or wait, and how tax should be presented at your checkout.
- What your refund and cancellation terms need to say, given what you sell.
Advanced
12 points
Your recommendation covers
Everything Storefront’s covers, plus:
- What to build custom, what to buy off the shelf, and what not to build at all.
- The shape of your data, and whether you actually need a database yet.
- Which parts are worth paying someone else for, even now that you can do most of it.
A pre-launch review
When you are nearly ready, send us the link. We go through the real thing and send back a written list of what to fix, in the order worth fixing it.
Back to you within three business days. One review per purchase, any time within a year of buying.
How it works
Four steps, and you own the result.
- 01
Choose the tier that matches what you sell
If you only need people to be able to find and contact you, that is Foundation. If money changes hands on the site, that is Storefront. If you want to build it yourself from code, that is Advanced.
- 02
Pay once, and the guide arrives
Checkout takes a minute, and the guide for your tier lands in your inbox straight away. There is no subscription and nothing to cancel.
- 03
Tell us about your business
A short form — about five minutes. What you sell, who buys it, what you already have, and what you are trying to achieve.
- 04
Your recommendation comes back in writing
A written plan built for your situation, within five business days. Then you build it, at your own pace, with the guide open beside you.
When not to buy this
It is not the right answer for everybody.
We would rather tell you now than refund you later.
- If you want it done rather than done by you, buy the build instead. This is a teaching product, and it costs you time — a first site is usually an evening a week for a month or two.
- If you need it live next week and you have never done it before, the honest answer is to hire someone for this one and learn on the next.
- If somebody else in the business will end up doing the work, buy it for them, not for you. The person with their hands on it is the one who needs the guide.
- If what you actually need is customers rather than a website, a site alone will not produce them. Start a conversation with us instead and we will say so.
Questions
The ones we are asked most.
- What exactly turns up when I pay?
- An email with the guide for your tier attached as a PDF, and a link to a short form. Fill the form in and a written recommendation for your business follows within five business days. On Advanced you also get a pre-launch review of the site you build.
- Do I need to be technical?
- Not for Foundation or Storefront. Both are written for somebody who has never built a website and assume no prior knowledge. Advanced does teach you to write code, but it starts from an empty machine and does not assume you have written any before.
- What will it cost me beyond this fee?
- A domain is roughly $20 a year. A website builder is usually $20 to $40 a month, and there is a path in the guide that costs nothing but your own time. Payment processing takes a percentage of each sale. The guide gives you the real numbers before you commit to any of it.
- What is the pre-launch review, and why only on Advanced?
- You send us the link before you go live, and we send back a written list of what to fix — broken things, how it reads on a phone, accessibility, speed, the search basics, and whether the words do their job. It is on Advanced because that tier asks the most work of you for the smallest saving, so it needs more from us than a longer document. One per purchase, any time within a year.
- Can I upgrade later?
- Yes. Email us and you pay the difference between the two tiers — never the full price again.
- How long does it take?
- Most people building their first site are live in three to six weeks working evenings. It is not a weekend, and anyone telling you otherwise is selling something.
- What if I get stuck and give up?
- Then hire us, and we will pick it up from wherever you got to. What you paid for the bundle comes off the build if you go ahead within 90 days.
- Is it specific to Canada?
- The tax, privacy and anti-spam chapters are written for Canadian businesses, and there is a BC-specific section on PST. Everything else applies anywhere.
- Can I get a refund?
- The guide is a file, and once it has been sent it cannot be returned, so sales are final. That is exactly why the full table of contents for every tier is published on this site before you pay — read it first and buy only if it is genuinely what you need.
Read the contents. Then decide.
Every chapter of every tier is published on this site before you spend anything. If it is not what you need, you will be able to tell — and if you would rather we simply built the thing, that offer stands too.
