Sock Market's grown-up mode on a phone: a child's completed chore, “Make your bed”, waiting for a parent to approve its fifty-cent payment.

01The Problem

Families who pay an allowance for chores end up tracking it on a fridge chart and in their heads. Who did what, who is owed what, and the lesson about money gets lost in the arithmetic.

02What We Built

A family app where children tick off their jobs on a shared tablet, parents approve and pay, and balances, savings goals and simple money lessons live in one place.

03How It Works

  1. 01

    A view for the kids

Installs from the browser onto a shared tablet like an app. Children see their jobs, their balance and what they are saving for.

  2. 02

    Grown-up mode

Behind a PIN: approve finished jobs, pay them, and take money away with a reason the child can see.

  3. 03

    A ledger, not a bank

Balances in real dollars that the parent settles. The app never holds or moves money.

  4. 04

    Money games

Short games and stories about earning, saving and spending, matched to each child’s reading level.

  5. 05

A subscription with a free trial

Families sign up, verify their email and start a trial, with billing handled through Stripe.

04What It Is Designed to Change

  • Approvals and payments in one tap, instead of a running tally.
  • Children who can see their own progress toward a goal.

05How It Is Looked After

We run Sock Market: hosting, billing, updates and new content.

Could Something Like This Work for You?

The pieces are the same ones business software is made of — approvals, a ledger, a subscription with a trial, an app that installs from the browser. Timesheets, expense approvals and member portals are built from exactly these.
